Ana Maria Ferreira

At the age of 46, Ana Maria Ferreira, from Póvoa de Varzim, decided to change her career path as an administrator in a family business and invest in fulfilling an old dream: studying Interior Design. She enrolled at LSD Porto for the first time in 2019. She took five courses and now runs her own studio. Ana is inspiring proof that it really is worth persisting in making a dream come true.

01. Why did you choose LSD and your Interior, Furniture, Garden, Events and Autocad courses?
I had a dream of becoming an interior designer. I chose LSD because I wanted to accomplish what I didn't finish at the age of 25. I found in this school all the tools that would allow me to become a professional in the field of decoration, with advanced knowledge, such as working with software. I received guidance, support and experience from the teachers, which is an asset to our performance in the job market. I wanted and managed to change my professional life at the age of 53. Today I'm working as an interior designer with great pleasure.

02. What was your experience like on the courses? Share a moment that stood out for you.
I enjoyed all five courses I took. Each one always had something different that added value to the ones I had already completed. All of them are linked to the same area, they were always a complement to the previous course taken.

03. How have the LSD courses contributed to your current career path? What are you currently doing?
Since completing the courses, I've opened my own interior design space in Guimarães. I decided to venture out and start my own business.

04. What recommendations would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in a creative field?
Above all, have a passion and love for your chosen field. Know exactly which creative area you want to pursue professionally. Have a lot of willpower, be persistent, don't give up at the first difficulty, because obstacles arise along the way and you have to overcome them to achieve your goals of personal and professional fulfillment. And there's no doubt that all training courses add value to our learning.
