The Lisbon School of Design's Motion Design course offers an exploration of the world of graphic animation and motion design. In a combination of theory and practice, you will master the fundamental principles of dynamic visual design, animation and composition techniques. Throughout the course, you'll be challenged to create practical, visually appealing and effective projects using reference tools such as Illustrator and After Effects, always with the close and experienced guidance of teachers who are experts in the field. By the end, you will have built up a diversified portfolio to present yourself in the advertising, entertainment and visual communication market.

You'll have an immersive experience in Motion Design, with practical exercises, in-depth analysis of real cases and the opportunity to create your own portfolio to present yourself differently in the job market.
You'll master the digital tools of vector drawing and animation and build visual narratives to retain viewers' attention and evoke emotion in the message.
You don't need any previous experience or knowledge to become a motion designer.

Design for motion
Basic principles of graphic design applied to Motion Design; Introduction to Adobe Illustrator; Creation of visual references; Composition and layout of visual elements; Typography and visual hierarchy; Use of colors and palettes; Creation of boards for animation; Concept of plans and scales.

From scratch to animation: Adobe After Effects in action
Project organization and structure; Keyframes and interpolation; Graph Editor; Layers in After Effects; Timing and Spacing; Interaction between layers (blending/parenting); Masks and Mattes. 12 Animation principles; Exporting files; File types and formats.

Visual movement: animation of shapes and text
Shape layers; Different text animation techniques; Practical exercises; Introduction to effects in After Effects; Creation of a Kynetic video.

From briefing to proposal
Briefing analysis; Research and references; Conceptualization and storytelling; Creative writing, narrative development, moodboards, mind-maps, treatment, proposal; Synopsis, style frames, storyboard and animatic; Proposal presentation.

Expressive movement: character animation
Introduction to character rig; Poses and Keyframes; Timing and easing; Walkcycle.

Visual Narratives
Processes for visualizing information and textual content; Storyboard development; Infographics and explainers; Application of effects for the visual development of composition: introduction to expressions; Space 2.5, parallax and camera movement.

Video for motion
Organization of Media/Video for editing in Adobe Premiere; Structure of the video editing timeline; Tracks and trim operations; Integration of video in Motion Design projects; Interaction between Premiere and After Effects; Color correction and color grading; Interaction of graphic elements with video; Rotoscoping, tracking and masking.

Basic audio principles; Audio editing and mixing; Sound effects and music tracks; Sound effects and music tracks.

Introduction to 3D
3D modeling; texturing and materials; lighting and rendering.

Portfolio

NOTE:
In all the modules, you will carry out exercises with specific characteristics and objectives for Motion Design projects, with the aim of building your personal portfolio for publication on the job market at the end of the course.
